Privacy policy
Effective October 2, 2026
This policy covers the current client-only OpenRang Chrome extension and its marketing website. OpenRang is operated by Alex Pyatetsky. A hosted scheduling service is not currently available.
What OpenRang accesses and why
With your permission, OpenRang identifies the selected Gmail account, reads conversation identifiers, headers, subjects, labels, timestamps and reply metadata, and modifies Inbox labels to snooze and restore conversations. It reads accepted send-as aliases so your own messages do not count as replies.
When you enable Return to Inbox next to Send, OpenRang computes a local fingerprint of the draft’s content and recipients. After Gmail’s Undo Send window, it temporarily reads a narrow set of recent sent messages to match the correct email. It does not persist email bodies or attachments in its local schedule database or separately download attachments.
OpenRang adds a clearly labeled private reminder directly to your Gmail mailbox. Any optional private note is included in that reminder. It is not sent to other participants. Although Google’s Gmail permission wording includes sending, OpenRang’s implementation does not send mail on your behalf.
Storage and recipients
Your Chrome profile stores account identifiers and aliases, subjects, thread/message identifiers, schedules, private notes, statuses, error details and temporary sent-message fingerprints in extension-local storage. Chrome and Google handle authorization. OpenRang does not store a Google client secret or refresh token.
The extension communicates directly with Google Accounts, Google’s account information service and the Gmail API. It does not route Gmail content or credentials through an OpenRang server. There is no remote analytics, advertising, AI processing, crash reporting or schedule synchronization in the current extension. Google data is not sold or used for advertising or training AI models.
OpenRang’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention, disconnection and deletion
Unresolved Rangs remain locally until resolved. The scheduler keeps at most the latest 100 terminal jobs after history cleanup. This is not a fixed time-based retention period. A sent-message fingerprint is deleted after matching or its job finishes.
Cancel & restore pending snoozed Rangs before disconnecting or removing the extension. Disconnect OpenRang from this Inbox removes that inbox’s local binding, but not completed history or Google’s consent. To revoke Google’s grant, use Google Account connections. Revocation may affect other inboxes connected to the same app.
Uninstalling the extension removes its local schedules. Original archived messages remain in Gmail’s All Mail. Private reminders already inserted in Gmail remain until you delete them in Gmail. Disconnecting or uninstalling does not delete mailbox messages.
Website and hosted preview
Website hosting and domain providers may process ordinary request metadata, including IP addresses, to serve pages. The website does not receive Gmail messages, credentials or Rang records. There are no website analytics or advertising trackers. The hosted preview does not collect or persist signup email addresses.
Our hosting provider may also run browser security checks and set cookies to protect the site from automated abuse. These checks do not receive Gmail data from the extension.
Security and availability
The extension uses HTTPS for Google API requests and restricts its local database to trusted extension contexts. It runs while Chrome is running and online. It is not a cloud scheduler and cannot deliver a Rang while Chrome is closed. Local review and tests are not Google verification or independent certification.
